01Frequently asked questions

What is Tabhand?

A phone browser where an AI agent opens tabs inside the app and operates pages on your request. Important actions, such as purchases and submissions, go ahead only after you allow them on the approval sheet. You can also use it as a regular browser without the agent.

What do I need to use it?

To use the agent, you need an OpenAI or Anthropic API key (key connection). You pay for AI usage to each company. You can create a key on OpenAI’s API keys page or Anthropic’s API keys page. For now, Tabhand itself is free to use.

Which devices does it run on?

It runs on Android 7.0 or later. The agent needs Android System WebView 146 or later; if yours is older, update it from Google Play. The iOS version is in preparation. The app is not yet available in either store.

What can the agent operate?

Only tabs inside the app. The agent tabs it opens for a request run in a separate agent profile, apart from your tabs, with their own cookies. It does not touch other apps, photos, contacts or files.

How do approval and confirmation modes work?

The confirmation mode decides which actions need your approval before they run. “Confirm everything” (すべて確認) asks before every action. “Confirm important actions” (重要な操作を確認, the default) asks before purchases, submissions, deletions, typing on another site and similar actions. “Confirm less” (確認を減らす) asks only before always-confirmed actions.

Always-confirmed actions ask in every mode: typing a value that looks like a card number or typing into a password field, navigating to a link that opens an external app, permission requests from a page, downloads, and choosing files.

What is prompt injection? Can it be prevented?

It is when text hidden in a page is read by the agent as a different instruction.

The agent waits for your approval before purchases, submissions, deletions and similar actions. However, instructions hidden in web pages (prompt injection) cannot be fully prevented. On the approval screen, check what the action does and where it goes before you allow it.

Where is my data sent?

The agent sends your request and the page content directly from your device to the connection you registered and agreed to (OpenAI or Anthropic). It does not pass through a Tabhand server. Password and card number values are not sent (screenshots show any card number that is on screen). For details, see the Privacy Policy.

How do I erase my data?

Go to Settings › Data (設定 › データ). From the top, there are Clear memory (記憶を消す), Clear browsing history (閲覧履歴を消す), Clear away all finished requests (完了した依頼をすべて片付ける), Clear cookies and site data (Cookie とサイトデータを消す) and Clear cache (キャッシュを消す); Erase all data (すべてのデータを消す) at the bottom erases everything on the device, including signing out of your connections.

Deleting the app also deletes the data on the device. However, settings and bookmarks are included in your device’s backup. Erase data kept at each company in OpenAI’s and Anthropic’s settings.

How do I revoke my API key?

Go to Settings › Connections (設定 › 接続), choose the connection and tap Withdraw consent and sign out (同意を取り消してログアウト); the key is removed from your device. To disable the key itself, also delete it on OpenAI’s or Anthropic’s API keys page.

How do I report an AI response?

In the app, long-press the agent’s message on the request card and choose Report this response (この応答を報告). To report the whole request, choose Report this request (この依頼を報告) from the card’s “…” menu. What is sent is described in chapter 8 of the Privacy Policy.

If the model’s output itself is harmful, you can also report it to the company: OpenAI at Report content, Anthropic at [email protected].

How old do I need to be?

Only people aged 18 or older may use Tabhand (Terms of Use).

What happens to a request when I leave the app?

When you leave the app, the request stops at a safe break point. Requests do not run outside the app. If the OS closes the app, the request becomes Interrupted (中断); tap Resume (再開) and it continues with the same exchange.
